I am the owner of Ferpie + Fray, a candle and home fragrance company based in the general Seattle area. I officially started F+F back in 2012 but was creating long before then.
As a young girl I found myself noticing all things with character and aesthetic and grew up thrifting with a passion for antiques and decorating. I have always had a need to create, especially if others could enjoy it. I started making candles about 12 years ago, at the time I was teaching painting classes, painting antiques, offering design consults and even had my own storefront. The candles became my highest demand and most sought after products. I decided to refocus my business to a candle company in 2016 and run a home based business ever since.
*Fun fact* Where does the name Ferpie + Fray come from?
I get asked this question often and love the sharing the meaning! My son (now 12) was born with a muscle tone developmental delay. Which means his brain functioned correctly, and his muscles functioned correctly but there was a disconnect between the two. We had a in-home therapist from birth to 3 years old. They taught him everything from gross motor, fine motor and speech. My daughter Audrey (3 at the time) would proudly announce, "Aiden's FERPIE is here" when the therapist would arrive each week. Her word "Ferpie" for "therapy" kind of stuck in our house. My growing business was becoming my personal "therapy", time to develop something that myself and others could love. A product that would hopefully gift a little "therapy" to everyone. The "Fray" part was later added because it means flawed or imperfect. Which is often our best features, don't you think? Today Aiden has grown out of his delay and doing just fine. Although that was a tough time for our family, I am so thankful for the journey.
Ferpie + Fray is a company with a focus on locally sourced, sustainable and handmade products. Every candle is hand poured by me here in the Pacific Northwest with 100% soy wax in recyclable materials. We keep our products free from parabens, phthalates, zinc and lead. No animal testing and 100% vegan.
